Start Your Own Program

to add to the available options in your area.

  1. Low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic

Humane Alliance has a free mentorship program to help you open a clinic with support every step of the way, from floor plan design to budgeting, to help training staff and what equipment to order. Find out more here.

  2. Mobile Clinic Program

The ASPCA can help you set up a mobile clinic program, which uses a vehicle outfitted with an onboard surgical suite. Your surgical team travels to various locations in your service area to perform surgeries. Find out more here.

  3. MASH Clinic

The ASPCA can also help you start your own MASH clinic. This type of program sets up its equipment and performs surgeries at non-veterinary locations, such as schools, warehouses, or other spaces in your service area. Find out more here.

  4. In-clinic Clinics

Another option is the in-clinic clinic. This can be achieved in one of two ways:

    1. A spay/neuter program uses the facility and equipment (but not the staff) of an existing veterinary practice, animal hospital, animal shelter, or veterinary college when these facilities are not in use, such as on weekends. They may need to bring some additional equipment, such as packs, and arrange for all of the animals themselves.

    2. A facility uses their own space and staff during days when they are not open, such as on weekends, to do larger volumes of spay/neuters. They may or may not partner with animal welfare groups to coordinate the event and bring animals. Find out more here.
