Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society shows a significant decrease in their kitten intake, thanks to spay/neuter.
Our friends at Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield, MA have plenty to celebrate this New Year! Their kitten intake has dropped from 1,874 in 2010 to 1,195 in 2012.
The best part is that with their intake down, they can focus more on placing cats that have been with them longer or have medical issues, which saves even more lives. The staff at Dakin attribute a large part of their success to spay/neuter! They performed 10,601 spay/neuters in 2012 and have performed 32,576 since opening in Oct 2009. That's a whole lot of surgeries and it sure is paying off!
